Working Bee

The Armidale Urban Rivercare Group (AURG) in conjunction with the UNE Landcare Group and UNE Facility Management are going to undertake a working bee on Dumaresq Creek at Sport UNE this coming Sunday.  The working bee is primarily a tree removal working bee and there will be lots of work for all who want to be involved.  This work is hugely rewarding as you can see a lot of exotic and feral trees removed in a day’s work! Details as follows:-

Time:               Start at 9am.

Date:               Sunday 13 May 2012.

Location:      Walking path closest to Elm Ave

What to bring:   Please bring your own personal protection gear (gloves, hats, sturdy boots, sun screen etc).  As we will be working around a lot of timber I strongly recommend people wear long sleeved shirts and trousers.  If you have a high visibility shirts and hearing protection then please bring this as well.

A morning tea and lunch will be provided for a gold coin donation.  As the Lions Club may not be able to help out on Sunday we may need help doing the BBQ! Please bring along a mug!

Natural regeneration!

The acacias are multiplying!

Some of the current plantings have been at the Dumaresq Ck site for over 5 years. After all of the rain this summer, and a bit of TLC to get the competitive edge on weeds, they are looking absolutely glorious.

Whilst doing some maintenance work on the plantings this weekend, Mic spotted some very exciting stuff. The acacias have set seed, and frogs are loving the creeklands.
